we have a {1} year old!

Holy smokes

We have a 1 year old!

...boy, did it go fast!

We celebrated his birthday with going to the park and having a little birthday party.

For as much as I love all things crafty I detest planning parties.  Don't get me wrong, I love going to them, admiring them, but it goes back to spending a bunch of time {not to mention lots of $$}  for something thats just going to be used for a few hours then thrown away.  I'd much rather pour myself & my time into something that'll last longer.  With that being said I wanted to keep within a budget and not consume alot of time.

We had a great time, stayed within my shoestring budget and had a very happy one year old!
enjoy the pictures of the weekend!

whoo are you Tuesday!

Short & Sweet.
dinner will be ready in 15 mins...
1. Do you prefer to write in cursive or print?
i write half and half.   i don't have pretty handwriting...boy do i wish i did!
2. Do you prefer to shop online or go out and actually
go to the stores?
depends on what I'm shopping for.  I was just thinking today how I might try Christmas shopping on 'Manic Monday' this year instead of facing the crowds on the day after Thanksgiving.  We'll see.  Or, maybe I'll just do both! :-)
3. Would you prefer to go camping or stay in a motel?
Hotel
4. Do your prefer going to the movies or staying
home to watch one?
Love both.  We have netflix so I love being able to choose from an assortment of them online if you don't want to leave the house.  Comes in real handy in the wintertime, especially in the Midwest!
5. Do you prefer a shower or a bath?
Hands down bubble bath.  LOVE BUBBLE BATHS.
Have a great day!

craigslist love

I have sold alot of things on craigslist over the years. My biggest item I sold was cousins HOUSE last summer.

Its almost a competition against myself.
(which I have entirely too much fun with) :-)

This summer we've sold some interesting items {to say the least} to help bring in some extra dough for my grandparents

( & because we love them & the thrill of it!)

Junk Feed Truck:  $400.00
Junk Truck:           $ 200.00
Junk Car:              $150.00
{no picture}
with a total of $750 EXTRA cash for them which we used to paint the exterior of their house. aka how myself, mom & sister spent our August. :-)

Pictures to come.

Well this week my husband was out appraising and came across this bathroom vanity and countertop.  he saw potential and called me and we both thought we could sell this on craigslist.  It  needed new handles (cost $5.00)  and about 1 hour of fixing by my super handy hubby and we posted her and we just sold it this morning for $75.00.  A
$ 70.00 profit to put toword our student loan debt!  Praise God for this completely random way to make some extra cash!!

Tip:  I learned a tip this time posting this vanity on craigslist.  I had originally posted it on "furniture" and didn't get one call for four days.  bummer.  I was looking over at different cateogires and saw the category of "materials....bingo!  We had our first call ten mins later.

How sweet is that.

Anything you've sold on craigslist you'd like to share?

Have a great weekend!!

funny housewarming gifts

Frugal.
Funny.
Thoughtful.

My brother and sister in law bought their first house a few weeks ago.  I wanted to get them a big, beautiful housewarming gift basket.  However, when I started to add that all up, GULP.  That idea went out the window.
Enter my frugal, but funny housewarming gift.

Plunger with a two rolls of toilet paper stuck on with a note reading ...

"Welcome to Home Ownership.  Hope nothing craps out on you!":-)
~meaning a fridge, dishwasher...etc~

Got any other thoughtful housewarming gifts/ideas?
I'd love to hear 'em!
