craigslist love

I have sold alot of things on craigslist over the years. My biggest item I sold was cousins HOUSE last summer.

Its almost a competition against myself.
(which I have entirely too much fun with) :-)

This summer we've sold some interesting items {to say the least} to help bring in some extra dough for my grandparents

( & because we love them & the thrill of it!)

Junk Feed Truck:  $400.00
Junk Truck:           $ 200.00
Junk Car:              $150.00
{no picture}
with a total of $750 EXTRA cash for them which we used to paint the exterior of their house. aka how myself, mom & sister spent our August. :-)

Pictures to come.

Well this week my husband was out appraising and came across this bathroom vanity and countertop.  he saw potential and called me and we both thought we could sell this on craigslist.  It  needed new handles (cost $5.00)  and about 1 hour of fixing by my super handy hubby and we posted her and we just sold it this morning for $75.00.  A
$ 70.00 profit to put toword our student loan debt!  Praise God for this completely random way to make some extra cash!!

Tip:  I learned a tip this time posting this vanity on craigslist.  I had originally posted it on "furniture" and didn't get one call for four days.  bummer.  I was looking over at different cateogires and saw the category of "materials....bingo!  We had our first call ten mins later.

How sweet is that.

Anything you've sold on craigslist you'd like to share?

Have a great weekend!!

18 Lessons From 18 Years of Marriage

{after reading these I have so much to learn, so much to strive for, but i loved this list.}

18 Lessons From 18 Years of Marriage

by Mark Driscoll

Grace’s 18 Lessons {his wife}

  1. Make time with Jesus your first priority, husband second priority.
  2. Be intimate often.
  3. Be willing to have hard and honest conversations, and pray for Jesus to make them fruitful.
  4. Pray for wisdom often.
  5. The enemy is always ready to divide you during trials. Don’t let him; cling to Jesus and each other.
  6. Forgive, forgive, forgive, forgive …
  7. Don’t enable his sin, but pray for wisdom in timing and words, and be respectful when addressing it.
  8. Be a woman of inner and outer beauty.
  9. Make your home a place of retreat and rest.
  10. Study your husband, appreciate, value and respect him, especially when you don’t “feel” like it.
  11. HAVE FUN.
  12. Pray against lies. Memorize the truth of scripture.
  13. Spend regular, meaningful time together. Invest in the relationship.
  14. Don’t let bitterness set in if you are hurt or frustrated; dig up the root and pray it through.
  15. Be an attentive and available listener.
  16. Be teachable and willing to submit.
  17. Set your heart and body toward your husband and don’t let either wander.
  18. Repent often and allow trustworthy people to speak into your lives.

.

Pastor Mark’s 18 lessons after the jump:

Pastor Mark’s 18 Lessons

Spiritual

1. Stay in church community and under godly authority.
2. Stay in your Bible and always have at least a few good Christian books you are reading.
3. Be the spiritual leader by praying with your family, modeling followership of Jesus, repenting of sin, teaching your family, etc.
4. Serve your family and serve others as a family.

Family

5. Pick a good potential mom and grandma for a wife.
6. If she respects you, the kids will too. If she does not, your family will be a grief to you.
7. Work with her to make the home, holidays, vacations, and other times filled with fun, laughter, and memories.
8. Just get through the rough seasons (sickness, demanding newborns, tough work seasons, extended family troubles, e.g.)by God’s grace.

Financial

9. Find an honest way to make enough money to give to God, be generous with others, and take care of your family.
10. Spend some money to make her life easier (dependable car, babysitting help, decent home, e.g.)

Practical

11. Try to make her laugh a lot and touch her heart and soul before you touch her body.
12. She’s not a guy, does not want to be treated like a guy, spoken to like a guy, or do what guys do.
13. She will sanctify you. It’s not her fault that your sin is obvious in relationship with her as she’s not changing you, but rather exposing you.
14. Syncing schedules is key: meet every week to organize your life together and plan out your life as one so you don’t live parallel lives.
15. Date night is important so make it happen, ideally every week.
16. Her needs change, especially when she becomes a mother, so look for new ways to humbly serve her.
17. Encouragement is to a wife as water is to a plant.
18. Every year gets better by the grace of God. Keep pressing forward together using the gospel to repent, forgive, and become more like Jesus.

did you know...text google!

my husband has one of those fancy, fun blackberry's for a phone,  I definitely want one, but don't need one so I'll have to get my fix by "borrow" his a few times a day!  :--)  Anyways, one cool thing my Brother & Sister in law told me about is TEXTing  google to get answers to your questions.  For instance say you want to see the movie times or get a phone number for the pizza place in town...they'll give you an answer/phone number in a matter of seconds! Here is how it works (standard text messaging rates apply)

In the TO section of the text message write: 46645
say I want to know what the weather will be like today.  I write "weather 50010" and within a few seconds, I'll know!  so cool.

From local business listings to stock quotes, you can get the information you're looking for with Google SMS.
Text message your search query to 46645 ("GOOGL" on most devices) and we'll text message back your results. Try our interactive demo below and view results on the phone image as you would on your own mobile device.

Click here to see a demo of what i mean!

Isn't that cool?!  I now have 46645 as a contact under Google!

Hope you enjoy this little trick!  :-)

books!

last tuesday we attended our first auction, and boy was I in heaven.  My hubby is such an amazing guy to come and be so supportive of my crazy, but yet creative ways to decorate our home. :-)  I love unique.  I love original.  I would go so far to say I don't enjoy getting brand new items anymore for decorating our home. i love the thrill of the hunt. and the story that goes along in getting it.  so...getting back to the auction.  they sold a whole BOX of these type of books for $1.00!  IF I would have seen this post earlier (the picture posted above) I would have been ALL over that.  Something I'll put in my "next time i see it" buy it place in my mind!

So this morning I saw this awesome website.  This woman is crazy creative.  Click here to see how she made this and for other inspiring ideas!

Mypoints

Ever heard of mypoints?  it is such an easy way to accumulate points & earn a gift card to your favorite store! I usually "earn" $40-$50 dollars worth of gift cards in one year.  I usually end up choosing Applebees so me and the hubs can make it a date!  How I use mypoints to work for my benefit is by opening up each e-mail they send me (1-8ish per day) and check on the "earn 5 points" bar.  that way i'm not out anything except the 10 seconds it took to open the e-mail and hit that tab.  so simple. i usually do this while feeding tucker.  what woman doesn't love to multi-task?! :-)  Go here to sign up today!
Here is how it works:

Earn Points

  • Earn Points for doing what you already do online: shopping, reading emails, playing games, searching the web, taking surveys, and more!
  • The more you do, the more Points you'll earn.

Shop or Book Travel

  • All the stores and brands you already love and trust are in one place, making shopping, booking travel and earning Points a breeze.
  • Find the best products, prices and deals.

Redeem Rewards

  • Use your Points to get gift cards for nearly 100 different stores and restaurants -- or enjoy gas cards, airline miles and hotel discounts. You pick the rewards you want.
  • Gift cards are quickly delivered to your door, free of charge.

couponing!

Some friends of ours have been asking what blogs we use  I swear by two &amp here is  why I love them:  It does take some time getting used to all the rules and stipulations, but it is completely worth it (in my opinion)

1.)  www.hip2save.com --  this is a great website for online deals, freebies, and my favorite her weekly videos of "follow me mondays"  where she takes the camera in the store and SHOWS you how she saves money.  She also is completely lovable.  great site to bookmark and check back frequently.

2.) http://www.couponingtodisney.com  this is another great website to follow.  click on the two links below to see what i mean.  for instance click here to check out the current deals at target for 90 items under one buck and another 22 FREE.  Or here for 121 items under one buck and 17 free!

i would like to note i don't get myself too worked up if I can't make it to get a deal.  tucker is my number one priority and i don't always get to the store as much as i'd like.  i do subscribe to the des moines register (they recently had a special sign up for six months for 22 bucks and get a 10 dollar applebees gift card)  on sundays and try to get a paper for free on sundays as well.

happy day to you!
