This past week ryan had the opportunity to help a friend (and his wife) with taking in the fall crop! Needless to say, ryan is like a kid in the candy store. Here is a couple of pictures.

goodbye to the houck truck!
Last thursday ryan was hit (from behind) in Cedar Rapids while on an appraisal requests. He was okay (minor tailbone pain, and hit his head on the glass below) but the truck was totaled. It was first purchased by his grandpa Roy ( who has since passed) and then given to Jon, then given to us as a wedding gift. It was a good truck, nope I stand corrected, ryan said is was a GREAT truck, with all caps! :-)

homemade laundry soap (that works GREAT!!)
its no secret, i get excited at the possibility of saving money for our little family! So, when i found a recipe for homemade laundry soap, i thought i'd give it a try. Well, that was over a month ago, and i LOVE it. Not only is it WAYYYYY cheaper, it also cleans better, even ryan's SMELLY basketball shirts! If you'd like to give it a go, here is the recipe:
3 cups (2 bars) Fels Naptha or Zote Soap, grated (I use lever 2000)
1 1/2 Cup 20 Mule Team Borax (you can buy this at walmart)
1 1/2 Cup Arm and Hammer Washing Soda (you can only buy this at cub foods!)
Mix ingredients together, then put in the blender to get to a powdered substance.
USE: Use one tablespoon per load for normal sized loads with normal dirt. This will wash about 90 loads. Be sure to store this marked and covered tightly.

youdata (want an extra 7-10 bucks of fun money?)
I just joined YouData.com. You provide some information on exercise habits, family size, etc. and then are paid to view online advertising.(the more items you click, the more offers you get)
It's quick and easy and not terribly invasive to your privacy, and you get real money transferred to your PayPal account based on how many ads you click on. You can watch as many or as few ads as you want. (my first week I made around 10 bucks, and it took less than 10 mins))
It does require that you provide your cell phone and e-mail address in order to prove that you're a real person, but no mailing address info is required and they just text an authorization code to your phone and that's it.
kinda fun, check it out if you'd like a fun/different way to make some fun money!

hayride!!
On Sunday evening we hosted a hayride for all the young couples & their families at my parent’s house. 32 people we able to make it. We had a great time! We enjoyed the three legged race, potato sack race, bobbing for apples, went on a hayride and came back for a bonfire with smores. Can’t get much better than that on a beautiful fall day!
