iowa state fair! 2009

Due to the fact I was eight months pregnant while the 2009 fair was going on we did not plan on attending. However, with the wonderful weather we were able to make it! My computer is not letting me download more than these two pictures. bummer. But, we had a great time. Got to see all the usual's; the animal learning center, the butter cow, the biggest boar, etc. and not to mention the one man band! ;-) I was able to make it about 3.5 hours, but my feet paid for it later that night! Overall it was a great day!

Present for Ryan!

Ryan's family has a great sense of humor and with the upcoming arrival of our first child they thought they'd have a little fun with that! They did not want him to feel left out! They had four presents for him to open. This is all to help me with diaper duty...now he is prepared!!

1st present: a pair of eye protective goggles. (you can see them on ryan already in the picture below)

2nd present: rubber gloves

3rd present: a cruddy shirt you wouldn't mind getting a little poo on! . i.e. a hawkeye shirt!

4th present: a mask to go over your mouth and nose!

Thanks Houcks!

Blogs I follow

One of my goals this summer was to find two - three blogs I could follow that let its readers know of good deals, how to save even more money etc. Well, I have found three AMAZING blogs. I am hooked. The information varies from saving money on groceries, to 80% off ugg boots, free samples, free photo prints, getting $25 restaurant gift cards for $2.00, you NAME it. I am still in the learning or "baby" stage of the game, but am LOVING it. I treat it as a competition to myself. How much can i save. How can I best serve our little family. Anyways...here they are. The top blogs I bookmark:

My TOP blog I love is:

http://hip2save.blogspot.com/ She is constantly updating it and she knows of really great deals. Last week alone I saved 35.00.

2.) http://www.forthemommas.com/

3.) http://athriftymom.com/

Get the Sunday Paper for FREE: Kum & Go gas station gives the daily Des Moines register free with a purchase of 8 gallons of gas, so on Sundays (when the coupon inserts are in the paper) we make sure one car/truck is empty so we can get our paper! :-)

hopefully soon!

Another quick update:

Had another doctor’s appointment today; everything is looking good. I am 2 cm dilated and 80% effaced still. The doctor said she'd be surprised if I didn't give birth the next couple of days--so we'll see! Have had a few contractions here and there but nothing consistent.

Funny Ryan Story:
Two nights ago Ryan laid next to me in pure exhaustion and said "I sure am ready for this baby to come." And I immediately started laughing..."oh yeah, your feet swelling and back pain really getting to you?" :-) we got a good laugh out of that. Needless to say, we're EXCITED!!

quick update

I had another doctors appointment on Tuesday and everything is still looking good. I am currently 1 cm dilated and 80% effaced! Alot of people have asked if i'm in the "nesting" phase and i definitely am! I am organizing silly stuff like my recipes and kitchen pantry--but for some reason that seems really important at the moment! :-) More later!
